The land Acquisition Branch deals with acquisition of land for various public purposes in the State. Land Acquisition is carried out by following the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, the Assam Land (Requisition & Acquisition) Act, 1964, the Petroleum and Minerals Pipelines (Acquisition of Right of User in Land) Act. 1962, The National Highways Act, 1956 etc.
The Branch accords approval to the land acquisition proposals received from the Deputy Commissioner/Collector of concerned District routed through the Requiring Department/Body. On receipt of requisition for acquisition in connection with a public purpose/project from a Requiring Body. Deputy Commissioner/Collector sends the land acquisition proposal to the Revenue & DM (LR) Department seeking necessary approval.
